June 9th Team Bagels & Backcarry Day from 14 Camp

The team woke up this morning to clear skies and relatively calm conditions here at 14 Camp — a welcome break in the weather that allowed for a productive day. They started with a warm breakfast of toasted bagels and hot drinks, fueling up for the work ahead. Spirits were high after a solid night’s sleep and the growing confidence that comes from settling into life at altitude.

Today’s main objective was the back-carry: a return trip down past Windy Corner (~13,300 ft / 4,054 m) to retrieve the gear and supplies they cached a few days earlier during their move from 11 Camp. The descent offered stunning views back down the Kahiltna Glacier, while the climb back up gave everyone another chance to strengthen their acclimatization.

Morale is high, and everyone is moving well. If the weather continues to hold, the next few days will be crucial as the team begins positioning for their eventual summit bid. For now, they’re staying focused, staying strong, and savoring the steady rhythm of mountain life.

Stay tuned — the journey continues upward.
