The June 7th team is super stoked they caught a weather window and were able to fly out of Talkeetna today! After a full day of waiting on standby, they finally touched down on the Kahiltna Glacier and are officially on the mountain.
They landed later in the afternoon, shared some celebratory pizza, and are spending the night at Basecamp (7,200 ft / 2,195 m) under blue skies and calm conditions. Spirits are high and the views are stunning — not a breath of wind in sight.
Tomorrow, they’ll begin their climb with the long haul up Heartbreak Hill, heading toward Camp 1 at 7,800 ft (2,377 m). The journey is on — stay tuned for more from the West Buttress!
