The June 5th West Buttress expedition is officially underway, with climbers touching down at Denali basecamp (7,200 ft / 2,195 m) after a scenic flight in from Talkeetna via Talkeetna Air Taxi. This classic international team is made up of mountaineers from across the globe—united by a shared goal and deep love for the mountains. From the UK to Texas, Sydney to South Carolina, each member brings a unique story and drive to the rope team.
Among them is a climber from Texas on his third attempt at Denali, feeling this time the summit is truly within reach. One team member from the UK is working through the Seven Summits, with Denali next on the list. A Sydney climber is looking forward to soaking in three solid weeks of Alaskan wilderness, while others from Virginia, South Carolina, and London are here to reconnect with nature and challenge themselves in one of the most beautiful, rugged places on Earth. Spirits are high, and the journey begins.
