May 28 Team Looking Ahead to Camp 2

Today the May 28th team woke up early at Camp 1 (7,800 ft / 2377 m) to haul loads of gear up to Kahiltna Pass via “Ski Hill” and actively acclimatize for the day. All in all the team spent 4 hours ascending in a beautiful weather window to cache gear before the weather conditions deteriorated. This is moderately difficult carry day of 7-9 miles round trip, with 2,000′-3,000′ of elevation gain and a return to 7,800′ Camp for the night.

From what we’ve heard everyone is acclimating exceptionally well and are enjoying adjusting to Denali life. “Don’t forget to floss!” has been adopted as the new camp motto and the camp mood is down right jovial. For dinner the team refueled with burritos while discussing their prospects to move their expedition progress along to their next destination, Camp 2 at 11,000 ft / 3353 m.
