Randy might win the dispatch of the season, with his highly detailed call from 14,200 feet, the site of Camp 3 on the West Buttress route!
The team awoke to 10 inches of fresh snow, but the weather was calm, so they packed up their camp at 11,000 feet and began the climb up the moderately steep “Motorcycle Hill” (please hear Randy’s take on the name), which rises up immediately out of camp. The team had a very nice day as they wondered about the naming of “Windy Corner,” a prominent feature on the West Buttress route, which was dead calm today. Arriving in Camp 3, they spent some time fortifying their camp and are tucked in for the evening.
Many thanks, Randy, for such a detailed dispatch!
