Hello to all of those who have been following us up the mountain!
The June 22nd team, also known as “Team Big Knots”, is back from our expedition on Denali. We had a fun last dinner in Anchorage the other night where we all got to laugh and share some of our favorite stories from the trip. This can sometimes be a hard moment for climbers who were unable to summit, and not to say it was easy by any means for anyone, but it truly showed the team’s positive and respectful attitude toward climbing big arctic mountains like Denali.
That said I would just like to take a moment to thank all the climbers on the team. To Lara, Steve, Pat, Saurabh and Mike. Thank you, guys, for being such amazing guests and friends, you all made the guide’s job much easier by being so dialed in on your skills and systems as well as being fun and open minded even when things got tough. You all put in so much hard work these past few years training up and mentally preparing for this climb and it showed, so thank you again for all your hard work both on and off the mountain. It was a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you and I look forward to seeing you all on Denali again soon.
It was a challenging few weeks on the mountain with lots of variable weather including extremely high winds and lots of precipitation at all camps. We moved through the weather when we could and made it up to camp 3 at 14,000ft in reasonable time. It was here that our trip was cut short due again to bad weather and weather trends up high on the mountain.
Even though we were unable to reach the summit, we all made it down the mountain safely and in good health. We are all now slowly getting reintroduced to normal life and recuperating from our time on the mountain. Thank you again from the guide team including Jed P, and Rob C and myself as well as the mountain trip office staff
