The team called in a dispatch, but it was largely unintelligible. They made it back to camp, after a 12 hour round-trip to the highest point on earth outside of the Himalaya. Everyone is stoked, but they are pretty tired after their big day.
They will spend tonight at High Camp before descending a vertical mile to the big base camp on the west side of the mountain, Plaza de Mulas. The descent is grueling, but can go fairly quickly, and is pretty straight forward. Upon reaching Plaza de Mulas, they will have ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the craziness of the bustling base camp, which is replete with an art gallery, a disco, and plenty of food options. It is a much different experience from the more remote eastern side of the mountain!
