Climber Robert de Jong called in an update for the May 3 Denali Team from Camp One on the Kahiltna Glacier. They spent yesterday ascending Ski Hill, directly above camp, to set a cache near Kahiltna Pass, at approximately 10,500′ (2875m) to prepare for the move to Camp Two at 11,200′.
Sporadic snow and clear weather made for a scenic day for the team, with clouds swirling around the high peaks. Often, this ascent can be a hot one for the team, so a bit of cloud cover was likely helpful in keeping temperatures comfortable.
Here’s the update from the team — partially in dutch. Unfortunately, none of us can speak dutch, but we’re sure that those following along can understand.
Excited to keep up with May 6 group
