The June 4 Denali West Buttress team hit the ground running and moved up to Camp 1 this morning. They carried all of their gear, food, fuel, and equipment in one push up the glacier about 5 miles to Camp 1 at 7,800 ft on the Kahiltna Glacier. They didn’t gain much altitude today, but these will be the biggest loads they carry on the trip. They set up their tents and settled in for the night, and tomorrow will carry a load of food and fuel up towards Camp 2 and then return to spend the night in Camp 1, spreading out the loads into two days.
