Lead Guide Aaron Diamond called in on behalf of the June 9 Denali team. They moved up into a beautiful basin today, located at about 11,200′ off the west side of Denali.
The camp is situated below the massive bulk of the West Buttress proper, and is ringed with steep ice and snow slopes. The west side of the basin opens up and the climbers can see over the westernmost glaciated ridge of the Alaksa Range and across miles and miles of tundra to the northwest.
Tomorrow, they plan to drop down to retrieve the cache of supplies they buried a couple days ago. It should be a fairly easy day of just a couple hours work.
Here’s Aaron!
