Climbing season in the Black Canyon of the Gunniso

Climbing season in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is under way! 🧗In recent days guide @jesse_m_yon took a few trips into the Black, two linking up Maiden Voyage and King Me, followed by Cloaked Interpretation.Maiden Voyage to King Me climbs at 5.9 to 5.10- and is an excellent intro to the Black, while Cloaked Interpretation is perfect for a solid 5.10 climber looking to go pitch after pitch of classic crack climbing on a unique feature.Both routes are getting morning shade and are also comfortable in the early afternoon. As fall progresses and temps continue to drop, routes on North Chasm View Wall will continue to open up. Let’s go! 🧗‍♀️

The next and final (for real this time) clinic will take place at the Ophir Wall in Ophir, CO on Oct. 8, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. or until it gets dark.Clinics are FREE and open climbing sessions for our local Telluride and Ouray communities to meet new climbing partners, sample local venues, and ask questions in a relaxed, supportive environment. Lead by experienced rock climbing guides, we’ll set up top-ropes and supervise, answer questions, go over technical systems and provide movement instruction.We recommend registering online (again, it’s free!) at the link in our bio (directions will be provided in the confirmation email). You are also welcome to just show up if you can’t make it at 4 p.m. Either way, we’ll kindly need you to sign a digital or paper waiver to participate.Required gear: Rock climbing shoes, harness and helmet, as well as a belay device and chalk bag. It’s an excellent time to get up into the alpine and on top of big peaks, and while 14ers like Sneffels, Wilson Peak, Mount Wilson and El Diente are often attractive objectives, some of the lesser-known peaks, like Fowler Peak in the Wilson Group, are worthy all on their own.Congrats to Linda for checking this peak off her 13er tick list after previously getting turned around! 🙏🏻🙌🏻📸 @chadpeele

There are fewer and fewer truly wild places on Earth, and Mount Vinson in Antarctica is one of them! ❄️At 16,050’ (4,892 meters), a Mount Vinson climb is often described as a “mini-Denali” expedition, and requires basic mountaineering skills and the ability to deal in the extreme cold temperatures of Antarctica.Our team meets at the southern tip of Chile in the bustling port town of Punta Arenas. Flying to Antarctica and landing on the blue ice runway at Union Glacier is an experience you will never forget. From the Union Glacier we board a Twin Otter on skis for the flight to Vinson Base Camp.It takes an impressive amount of logistical support to get people and gear to the bottom of the world, but we’re here to make it happen!2024-25 Trip Dates:
