Lead Guide Pablo Puruncajas called in from 7,800′, the site of the team’s Camp 1 on the immense Kahiltna Glacier. They made good time moving up from Base Camp, covering the five miles in about five hours. This is a tough day, with climbers loaded down with all the food, fuel and supplies for a 3-week expedition.
Tomorrow, they will climb higher and deposit roughly half of their sullpies at around 10,000′ before dropping back down to 7,800′ to spend the night.
Here’s Pablo!
