Eli Potter and Luis Alvarez called in from 14,200′ on day three of their quick ascent of Denali.
They spent the day resting in camp, as the previous days have been tough one, moving long distances, while hauling and carrying heavy loads of the requisite equipment to climb this big, cold mountain. They are replenishing their reserves in preparation for a summit bid from the 14,200′ camp.
The plan is to awaken early in the morning and start climbing. They will travel light and, if conditions and health permit, they will move up to the traditional 17,200′ High Camp where they will stop and brew up with a Mountain Trip team that is camped at that spot. Continuing upwards, they will attempt to summit and then descend back to 14,200′ in a quick round trip.
They have contingency options available to them and all team members are fit, strong and acclimatized; however, they will assess the prudence of continuing upwards at regular intervals and will turn back if things do not seem like continued ascent is appropriate.
