Denali June 23 Team is on the Glacier

Lead guide Adam Smith called in from the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier to let us all know that the June 23rd team is all camped on the snow, amidst the grandeur of the Alaska Range!

The team departed Anchorage in the morning and drove up through Wasilla, Alaska (famed for it’s views of Russia!) and on to the small town of Talkeetna.  In Talkeetna, they were treated to another orientation about climbing Denali from the National Park Service.  Following their orientation, the team finished their packing at the local airstrip and then loaded up onto the planes operated by our friends at Talkeetna Air Taxi for the short flight to the glacier.

Flying from the lush green into the stark white of the Alaska Range is thrilling.  The mountains soar higher than your airplane and your blood really starts pumping when the skis touch down on the glacier surface and the plane bumps and slides to a halt amidst some of the prettiest peaks anywhere.
