Mountain Trip has long offered varying degrees of highly customized expeditions and we are pleased to introduce you to one such team.
J.Y. Jones is book author, physician, outdoorsman, missionary, and hunter. He approached us with an idea for a trip that would involve a very small group of climbers and we found a climbing partner for him in Suzanne Al Houby, a Palestinian mountain climber and the first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest.
Along with four guides from Mountain Trip, the two adventurers will attempt to climb the West Buttress route of Denali.
The team met in Anchorage on Sunday, May 27th and made their final preparations, which included a thorough equipment check and last minute shopping. On Monday, the 28th, they drove up to Talkeetna, Alaska and attended an orientation by the National Park Service. They had hoped to fly into the glacier that afternoon, but the weather had other plans, so they spent the night in Talkeetna.
They flew to the glacier yesterday afternoon and are making their way up the mountain.
The guides for the team are:
Sean McManamy from Alaska
Jack McGee from Alaska
Nick Aiello from Massachusetts
Mike Thurk from Colorado
