Zach just called the MT office to report the expedition all making it back to high camp safely. They will sleep well tonight, and plan on moving down from high camp tomorrow if conditions and weather permit.
The team did great yesterday and we’re looking forward to a recap and posting some photos after they get back to Anchorage.
The plan for the next days is something like follows, keeping in mind that the plan, as they say, is subject to change for many reasons:
Today they will drop down to the big camp at 14,200′ (4328m) and pick up some gear and trash that they left cached. They will probably continue down to either 11,200′ (3413m) or maybe even 7,800′ (2380m) and spend the night. They will probably then head down the lower glacier in the wee hours of the morning, when it is most frozen, arriving in Base Camp sometime early on Friday. They might opt to take their time and enjoy the vistas of the Alaska Range, but most folks are ready to get off the glacier and take a shower after a couple of weeks.
