Meet the May 30 Denali Team!

Scott Woolums might well hold the record for the most summits of Denali and we are thrilled that he is still guiding for Mountain Trip!  He called in today, while en route to the small town of Talkeetna Alaska, located at the end of the road, south and east of the vast Alaska Range and Denali National Park.

Today, a team of Chilean climbers, accompanied by Scott and our guide Josh Miller, will check in at the Walter Harper Ranger Station in Talkeetna to finish the process of obtaining permits to attempt the West Buttress route of Denali, the highest peak in North America.

Ignacio Cueto, Patricio Rojas and Carmen del Castro will join our guides, along with a well respected guide from Chile, Maria Paz Ibarra, also known on big, cold mountains around the world as “Pachi.”  They will finish up with the National Park Service permitting process and then fly to the glacier in a small plane piloted by our friends at Talkeetna Air Taxi.  They will land at 7,200′ on the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier.

Here is Scott!
