COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING: nuts and bolts

Overview

There are a few reasons that Mountain Trip has relocated our headquarters to southwest Colorado.  Most of the reasons revolve around our passions of climbing and skiing.  The backcountry skiing around our little hamlet of Ophir is absolutely world-class.  We structure our lives so that we can have ample opportunity to sample the great snow that falls above town and to explore the endless quantity of great terrain that the San Juan Mountains provide.

Due to permitting restrictions on the public lands that surround us, we are currently offering helicopter access skiing through our good friends at Telluride Helitrax.  Helitrax is a family owned company that has been flying skiers to remote ridgelines above Telluride and Ophir since 1982.  Several of our guides also guide for Helitrax, and would be happy to help you find the Nirvana that can only be found schussing down a slope of deep powder.  Please contact Helitrax directly at:
